After 22 years with hardly a day off - and never a holiday - Ian has decided that he no longer wants the stress/responsibility of running a business, as rewarding as it has been. Going forward Ian's eldest daughter, Alex Marsh, whom many of you may know, will be running a business www.horseridingsurrey.co.uk from the current premises - please visit the new website!

Ian will still be involved in the day to day running of the yard and you are sure to see him around, he is available for excursions or taking your hack and he will be happy to stop and chat.

Welcome to the horse riding adventure that offers “Hacking with a Difference in Surrey”...and now serious tuition as well!

Hopeful Earl, our riding stables at Painshill Farm, is situated not far from Guildford, in the heart of the glorious Surrey Hills.  Here you will find some of the best hacking (trail-riding) in the South of England as well as lessons for beginners up to advanced level in all disciplines, whether it be cross-country, dressage, or showing.

If you have always admired the power and beauty of the racehorse and dreamed of being able to ride one, look no further.  Ian McAlpine, the proprietor, specialises in offering customers the rare opportunity to ride an ex-racehorse.  But don't worry, you don’t need to be an experienced rider to be able to sample the thrill of riding one of these magnificent thoroughbreds. Our horses have been retrained to provide exciting but safe riding to suit all levels of experience be it complete novice or at competition level.
